The Nevada Legislature enacted a STR law this year. AB363 https://www.leg.state.nv.us/Session/81st2021/Bills/AB/AB363_EN.pdf At this point it only applies to Clark County (Las Vegas) but we anticipate it will be further considered in 2023’s Legislative Session.

STR is essential in the history of single female property ownership…many boarding houses were female operated with rooms for lease and provided opportunity to generate wealth through ownership and leasing

My county made an large investment in software that trolls all STR sites and reports out if the host is collecting and remitting accommodations taxes…we have been at that process of getting owners/hosts into compliance on collecting and remitting tax and have experienced a huge surge in that revenue. Just seeing the sheer volume of revenue brought in through STR has changed the mindset of some of our local leadership on how to work with owners/hosts and make it something that works for all stakeholders. Leadership definitely doesn’t want that use going “underground” and losing that revenue
